Brigade Court – Borough, London SE1

Project overview

Brigade Court is a large-scale residential development located in the heart of Borough, SE1, comprising a total of 199 homes arranged across a combination of new-build blocks and the sensitive conversion of a former London Fire Brigade building. The scheme brings together Grade II listed heritage architecture and contemporary residential design, organised around a central landscaped courtyard within a Zone 1 location.

The development includes a mix of studio apartments, apartments and duplexes, together with a comprehensive range of resident amenities, forming a cohesive residential community that connects historic character with modern living.

Scope of works

Atelier Vero was appointed to deliver a significant bespoke joinery and stone package across the development. The scope included the design, manufacture and installation of 199 fully bespoke kitchens, together with all associated stone worktops, produced and installed in-house.

In addition to the private apartments, Atelier Vero also completed bespoke joinery within the communal areas, including the residents’ cinema room, meeting and work hub spaces, gym, private dining areas and other shared facilities. The appointment required consistent delivery across both private and communal environments, each presenting varying layouts, constraints and architectural conditions.

A key aspect of the project was the delivery of kitchens within the retained fire station building, where irregular geometries, non-standard ceiling heights and complex structural conditions required fully bespoke solutions, with no infills or standardised components used throughout.

The appointment required complete coordination of joinery, stone, appliances and finishes across the development, ensuring consistency of quality and execution throughout the apartments.
