Set within a historic retained building near London Bridge, this private apartment presented a highly unusual architectural setting. Formerly part of a fire station, the property carries the character and complexity of an older London structure, where sloped ceilings, irregular walls and non-standard angles shaped every part of the design.
The kitchen was created around these constraints rather than against them. Warm walnut veneer was used to bring depth, elegance and architectural strength to the space, while the cabinetry was carefully shaped to follow the unusual roofline and geometry of the apartment. The result is a refined contemporary kitchen that feels completely integrated into the building — tailored, precise and quietly dramatic.
Atelier Vero delivered the full bespoke kitchen package, including design development, manufacture, worktops, appliance coordination and installation.
The cabinetry was produced in a beautiful walnut veneer, with tall appliance housings, base units and wall cabinets all made to suit the complex shape of the room. A key element of the project was the precision required to work around the sloped ceilings and irregular building lines, ensuring the kitchen felt intentional and architectural rather than compromised by the structure.
The scope included bespoke walnut veneer cabinetry, integrated appliances, worktops, lighting coordination and full installation. The project required careful technical detailing and site-led design development, with every angle, height and junction considered individually. The finished kitchen demonstrates the value of truly bespoke manufacture, turning a challenging historic space into a warm, contemporary and highly functional interior.
